September Work Day and More!

Dear Friends,

We hope everyone is doing ok! We have a few announcements to share with you all:

Our next work day will be on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. We will put into practice some of the things we learned about hand tools with Tom Simpson at the beginning of August as we continue clearing and this time, Tom will be back with Part 2 of his hand tools workshop, this time focusing on sharpening, including a hands-on activity led with Wonderlander Mike! Please RSVP by Sept 10th, lunch + beverages included!

Wonderfest, our annual weekend social hangout at the land is coming up! This year it will happen on the first weekend of October. Last year we had a yoga class, a treasure hunt, a foraging walk and a workshop on weaving and identity! If you have skills you’d like to share, stories you would like to tell or games you’d like to play, please send us your proposal by mid September so we can add it to the weekend’s calendar! As a reminder Wonderfest is a free weekend open to everyone! 

We are also excited to announce an online screening of the documentary Second Nature in September for our patrons!

Narrated by Elliot Page, Second Nature follows trailblazing Evolutionary Biologist Dr. Joan Roughgarden as she meets groundbreaking scientists exploring the 1500+ animal species who engage in same-sex sexual behavior and parenting, change sex, form matriarchies, and more, debunking myths that females are “inferior” and that being queer is “unnatural.”
